Heat a splash of oil and a little water over medium heat in a non-stick pan. Add the rashers, cover, and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning halfway. Once crisped and heated through, serve in a warm roll, alongside your favourite vegan breakfast spread, or in a variety of culinary creations.
Chef's Tip: Open the pouch and carefully separate slices. Store away unused slices in an air-tight container and refrigerate to enjoy in the following days.

Not amazing
I was looking forward to these based on previous reviews I had read. My favourite fake bacon is by Plant Pioneers. It is head and shoulders better than any other make. Unfortunately Sainsbury appear to have discontinued it...
By comparison, Sgaia not only doesnt look as much like real bacon as PP, it does not taste as good either, in particular it does not taste 'smoky enough'. Texture wise it was not too bad for a soya based rasher, but I have found that the most faithful meat copies always use pea protein...
Initially, I thought there were only four (thick) rashers, which seemed good as all other fake bacons I have tried are, in my opinion, too thin and lead to either underdone rashers or else completely dry crumbly ones. The 'double' rashers managed to get a nice level of exterior crispness then I discovered they would split in two. They were ok - similar to 'This isn't bacon - but I wasnt searching for 'ok' - I wanted another PP smoky.
With the other rashers, I tried again, separating them first. I followed the instructions exactly and after 2.5 mins they still looked wet and underdone. Back on with the lid and literally one minute later they were crumbly with black edges. I still ate them but they seemd to have little flavour. Unfortunately, I bought 5 packs to minimise postage and packing..

Hi Nick! Thanks for the detailed review. It sounds like your pan was not hot enough or the heat was not high enough! You can see from our various content on IG or our Recipe Inspiration Blog how beautifully they sizzle and cook! Also keep in mind that unlike the other brands mentioned we do not use chemical thickeners, binders, flavourings or preservatives. We aim to make natural alternatives over chemical simulations :)

Best vegan bacon
This is my absolute favourite vegan bacon. Really tasty, great texture and I’m happy I know what it’s made from! I don’t bother buying vegan bacon from the supermarkets anymore as they are a very poor substitute.
