That’s why in 2018, Honestly Tasty took on the challenge – to not only fill that gap but to prove that mouth-watering, indulgent plant-based cheese is not just possible, it’s essential.
Driven by the idea that something so simple as cheese was stopping people from embracing a vegan lifestyle, the Honestly Tasty team embarked on their journey. After a research trip to Berlin, they began their experiments in Granny Joyce’s kitchen, working tirelessly to create the perfect alternative. After countless trials, their iconic blue cheese was born – blending modern innovation with traditional cheese-making methods.
What started with blue cheese soon expanded to include Ched Spread, Shamembert, and Bree, each crafted with the same dedication to flavour, texture, and authenticity. Today, their cheeses are loved by vegans and non-vegans alike and can be found in renowned stockists like Planet Organic and Selfridges, as well as over 70 independent stores. Their recognition includes awards such as the Plant Based Expo’s Cheese Alternative category, but the most meaningful achievement is changing the way people experience plant-based food.

Our Approach
Honestly Tasty began when Mike’s passion for veganism met his love for cheese. After months of experimentation, the result was a now award-winning recipe for vegan blue cheese. That success was the spark to create a brand that redefines what plant-based cheese can be. With his sister Beth by his side, they’ve built Honestly Tasty into a name synonymous with quality, creativity, and taste.
Like Bonobono, Honestly Tasty is more than just about great food – it’s about reshaping perceptions and inspiring positive change. They believe in creating food so delicious it sparks a new way of thinking, shifting behaviours, and showing that plant-based living is both kinder to animals and gentler on the planet.
Giving Back
Honesty and responsibility are core to the Honestly Tasty ethos. Committed to giving back, 2% of their revenue is donated to charity, including support for The Dean Farm Trust, an animal sanctuary in Wales, and Café Van Gogh, a not-for-profit social enterprise in South London.
